Troubled Times

Troubled Times

So, what’s going on in your world?

Sort of a silly and irreverent question right now, isn’t it? Social Distance, N95 Facial Masks, Essential this or Unessential that, and sanitary wipes for everything. (I never thought I’d know the formula for Purell, did you?) IKR.

I’m going to draw from Rudyard Kipling and his poem “IF” to start your thinking during these chaotic times:

  • If you can keep your head when all around you are losing theirs,

  • If you can make allowance for doubting,

  • If can still hold to your dreams; beyond right now,

  • If you can watch the things you’ve built, be broken, and create your plans to rebuild,

  • If you can force your heart to serve you and hold on,

  • If you can value all people around you, even now,

  • If you can believe in the future …

…this virus will pass us and the sun will shine down on us…so HOLD ON together.

And, lucky you guys and gals, I’ve taken advantage of the time to do even more reading. So, ponder these and be ready to explain why you are laughing by yourself:

Steven Wright, Comic, “I woke up one morning to find all of my stuff had been stolen and replaced with exact duplicates.” The rest of these are anonymous:

  • Half of the people you know are below average.

  • How do you tell when you are out of invisible ink?

  • If Barbie was so popular, why did you have to buy her friends?

  • Eagles may soar, but weasels don’t get sucked into jet engines.

  • What happens if you get scared half to death, twice.

Stay safe. Help each other. (I said that.)
